Te Tūranga | The Role

We are looking for an Adviser to join our Intensive Supervision team, where you'll contribute to the supervision of entities and situations requiring specialist regulatory attention due to their complexity, novelty or risk. Working within a highly collaborative, outcomes-focused team, you'll help support fair consumer outcomes and strengthen confidence in New Zealand's financial markets.

A day in the life will see you building relationships with supervised entities, contributing to monitoring and supervision activities, and analysing complex information to support regulatory decision-making. You'll work alongside experienced colleagues across the FMA, gaining exposure to a wide range of entities, regulatory issues and supervisory approaches while helping deliver practical, outcomes-focused responses to emerging risks.

Your mahi will include:

• Developing and maintaining entity-specific Intensive Supervision plans, with a focus on achieving meaningful regulatory outcomes.
• Engaging with regulated entities to communicate expectations, monitor progress and support effective regulatory outcomes.
• Conducting analysis of complex issues, identifying risks and contributing to well-reasoned regulatory positions.
• Collaborating with colleagues across the FMA to support coordinated regulatory responses and case management.
• Supporting the ongoing development and continuous improvement of the Intensive Supervision function.
• Building and maintaining constructive relationships with internal and external stakeholders that support the FMA's objectives.

You'll be a curious and motivated professional who enjoys working through complex issues and contributing to meaningful regulatory outcomes. You bring strong analytical capability, sound judgement and an ability to build positive working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.

You enjoy collaborating with others, can navigate ambiguity with confidence, and are comfortable working with detailed information to identify practical solutions. You bring a positive, team-oriented approach and are keen to continue developing your expertise in regulation and supervision. Experience analysing complex information and working within regulatory or risk-based frameworks will be advantageous.

The appointing salary range for this role is $95,000 - $105,000 per annum plus 4% KiwiSaver and the benefits outlined above. Final offers are based on experience, skills and internal equity.
