We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Service Operations Manager to join the NZ Post team.  This is a key role, both tactically and strategically for the Waikato Region and the role leads the success and future of the Waikato Operations Centre which is integral to the regional and national strategy of NZ Post.

Reporting into the Waikato Area Service Delivery Manager, you'll have a seat on the Waikato Senior Leadership team, where your strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to plan, scope and measure the success of strategic initiatives and projects will be highly valued. 

The role

In this role, you'll be focused on engaging the team in the efficient processing, distribution and delivery of our customer's mail and freight, as measured by our service performance targets. You will also be responsible for the overall performance of the Customer Services and Administration function for the branch.

You'll be responsible for managing costs and service performance against set targets as well as leading and implementing improvement initiatives. We're looking for a strong leader with the ability to create an engaged, high performing team culture. Your communication style will ensure everyone knows what's happening and you'll take the time to understand each individual in order to develop their skills and careers, while recognising and rewarding performance and managing poor performance. 

A bit about you

Ideally the successful candidate will have:

  • At least three years operational experience in a senior leadership role
  • Leading and managing large teams
  • Proven excellence in people leadership and coaching
  • Can demonstrate a track record in lifting performance, influencing a large team and achieving success through others
  • Proven track record of leading and implementing change   
  • A relevant Tertiary Qualification degree or equivalent in Business Operations

Hours will typically be Monday to Friday, however, flexibility in working hours will be required recognising the business operates 24 hours 7 days a week.
