Do you have experience in working in a Ministerial Office? Do you enjoy the flexibility of moving between offices and working with different people and teams on a regular basis? If providing an excellent level of support to Ministers and their office teams excites you, then read on! 

Ministerial Services is looking for a Roving Private Secretary (Advisory/Media) to provide support services to members of the Executive for short-term cover assignments. These roles will provide both cover for staff in offices while they are on leave as well as surge support in times of high need. These are 'Events-based' roles for the duration of the 53rd Parliament.

The right applicants will have a mixture of the following: * 

  • Effective planning and co-ordination skills, with the ability to meet tight deadlines and adapt to competing and changing priorities; and
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to relate to and gain the confidence of the Minister and diverse stakeholders 
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail  
  • The ability to effectively interpret a wide range of information and resolve complex issues under pressure. 

To be successful in these roles, you will have the demonstrated ability to work well as a team player and collaboratively across teams. You will thrive under pressure and can juggle competing priorities and responsibilities at short notice. A flexible approach to work is essential, along with excellent communication skills. Previous experience in these roles and/or at Parliament is highly desirable. Applicants must be permanent residents or NZ Citizens and are required to obtain and maintain a National Security Clearance (at a minimum level of 'Confidential').
