Contractor Revenue Manager at New Zealand Post, Auckland

Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

To assist us on this journey we have a newly created role focussed on creating solutions for our contract business which optimise commercially viable contractor earnings models. You'll report to the Commercial Manager - Strategic Relationships and Contracts, with a strong focus on business partnering, and demonstrated experience working within commercially focussed roles, with an accounting / commercial focus.

You'll also lead, coach and mentor 2 direct reports, requiring a mix of both strategic and “hands on” focus.

Your core deliverables include:

  • Supporting the commercial and financial aspects of all new contracts across our contractor base to ensure they will provide an economic return for all parties
  • Supporting the development of business opportunities to maximise margin uplift ensuring that these opportunities deliver growth and return for our contractors to grow their businesses as well as being commercially viable for us
  • Providing direction and supporting analysis to the Territory Design and Sourcing teams, ensuring the correct balance is maintained between cost and capacity

As this is a newly created role there will be an implementation aspect to this role initially, developing models and systems to support the success of this role.   You'll be liaising with operational and customer teams to understand cost and revenue drivers and leveraging our profitability tools to ensure sustainable earnings outcomes for our contracted business partners. Therefore, you'll need to be able to demonstrate great stakeholder management skills and an understanding of the supply chain and/or logistics industry experience.

Mōu - About you

As an experienced management accountant, financial business partner or senior commercial analyst, you'll have broad commercial management experience across a range of functional areas.  Ideally this would be combined with a strong understanding or experience gained in operational supply chain, distribution or planning. 

You'll couple this with

  • Proven experience in developing or taking an existing strategic vision or concept for a new or substantial change to an existing business and turning this into a fully functional operational reality
  • A strong track record of using commercial and analytical skills to enhance earnings performance and commercial viability
  • Experience in designing and building large complex financial models
  • A collaborative approach and the ability to engage with a variety of stakeholders at all levels
  • The ability to use commercial knowledge to tell a story/ sell a vision
  • Being tech savvy, knowing your way around a variety of systems including PowerBI and Minitab or similar
