Kōrero mō te tūranga | About the Role

We're looking for an enthusiastic and talented Principal Advisor to join the Investment Management System (IMS) team.  This is a pivotal role within the IMS team and Investment Management in New Zealand.  This role's purpose is to support the Manager IMS, and Head of Investment Management Policy, to deliver on a work programme that includes:

  • Development and refinement of the evaluation framework and Budget processes for significant capital investments
  • Review of the capital planning and funding pathways and requirements for agencies
  • Ongoing provision of policy advice related to capital investment, including improvements to investment planning and delivery

To succeed in this role, you will be naturally collaborative and bring exceptional inter-personal and relationship management skills.  You will have a proven ability to lead work programmes, understand different stakeholders' motivations and influence outcomes. In particular, you will bring:

  • Strong intellectual leadership skills, and the ability to apply these in a cross-agency environment
  • Significant experience working in public policy roles
  • An ability to work at pace (when required) and deal with ambiguity
  • A strong track record of working collaboratively
  • Excellent communications skills
  • A strong delivery focus
  • Practical capital investment experience (desirable but not essential)
