About the Team:
Our legal team manages a diverse range of commercial, compliance, and public law (including international) matters, providing a broad range of legal services to assist Maritime New Zealand in achieving safe, secure and clean seas including: public law advice on the exercise of statutory functions and powers, international law advice, legal opinion work, contracts, procurement and property law advice, and conducting and managing litigation.
What you'll do:
We are looking for a permanent full-time Solicitor to join our litigation and operations practice, working closely with both the in-house legal team and Crown Solicitors to conduct and manage litigation. You'll be drawing on your sound public law knowledge and experience to provide high level, reliable legal advice to the Director of Maritime New Zealand and staff on inquiries including exercise of statutory powers and functions.
What we're looking for:
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A Bachelor of Laws or higher
- Admission as Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand and a current practising certificate (or eligibility to hold one)
- Ideally 3-4 years of post-admission experience
- Sound litigation management experience (prosecutorial, criminal or regulatory would be ideal)
