The Construction and Innovation Group supports Kāinga Ora to grow its public and supported housing portfolio through the design and development of high quality homes that meet the needs of the community now and in the future, and by driving innovation across the construction sector.

Ko tā mātou mahi - Our Role

The architecture team provides expertise to the benefit of Kāinga Ora on achieving design quality. This is realised in Kāinga Ora's public housing development work, with the team's delivery impacting the effectiveness of significant annual capital investment. Our expertise is to provide the link between what our customers need to feel at home, to be part of a community and design. The team will achieve this purpose through the building of internal capability within Kāinga Ora on its ability to deliver high quality architecture, establishing a centre of design excellence on community housing and residential development and through the provision of strategic design and design management advice on projects.

The Senior Architect will lead the planning and delivery of initiatives that help achieve the team's purpose as well as using their experience to mentor others within the team. Their experience and work will help grow the knowledge base within the team and lift capability on design within Kāinga Ora's wider cohort.

Ngā pūmanawatanga ōu - What you will bring

To be successful in this role as a Senior Architect we are looking for individuals who have:

  • Demonstrated capacity to operate effectively across multi-disciplinary teams and adapt to changes in environment or circumstances
  • Demonstrated experience and capability to lead project teams effectively
  • A Bachelor/Master's Degree (prof.) in Architecture and professional registration as an architect in NZ or overseas equivalent
  • Extensive experience in the design or delivery of complex buildings with interdisciplinary teams and multiple stakeholders
  • Demonstrated expertise in an area of design such as concept design, construction systems, design management or documentation standards
  • Empathy and understanding of social housing is desirable including knowledge of issues, priorities and concerns facing key customer and community groups
  • Competency in design and presentation software such as Revit, ArchiCAD, Sketchup, Adobe Creative suite etc will be an advantage

 

  • Understanding of partnership obligations under the Treaty of Waitangi
