The Construction and Innovation Group supports Kāinga Ora to grow its public and supported housing portfolio through the design and development of high quality homes that meet the needs of the community now and in the future, and by driving innovation across the construction sector.

Ko tā mātou mahi - Our Role

The architecture team provides expertise to the benefit of Kāinga Ora on achieving design quality. This is realised in Kāinga Ora's public housing development work, with the team's delivery impacting the effectiveness of significant annual capital investment. Their expertise is to provide the link between what our customers need to feel at home, to be part of a community and design. The team will achieve this purpose through the building of internal capability within Kāinga Ora on its ability to deliver high quality architecture, establishing a centre of design excellence on community housing and residential development and through the provision of strategic design and design management advice on projects.

As an Architect you will provides architectural design services, design management support, and technical advice for project development teams involved in the delivery of Kāinga Ora's public housing.

Ngā pūmanawatanga ōu - What you will bring

To be successful in this role as an Architect we are looking for individuals who have:

  • Experience working in a multi-faceted and demanding environment.
  • A Bachelor/Master's Degree (prof.) in Architecture and professional registration as an architect in NZ or overseas equivalent
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering good stakeholder relationships through consultation and partnership
  • Demonstrated ability to engage and influence at both the operational and management level
  • Demonstrated account management and client relationship skills including understanding what clients' and stakeholders' goals and objectives are and helping them achieve them.
  • The ability and desire to collaborate and work well in a team environment
  • The behavioural characteristics and skills required to work in a matrixed environment
  • Excellent listening, interpersonal relationship management and presentation and communication skills
  • Competency in design and presentation software such as Revit, ArchiCAD, Sketchup, Adobe Creative suite etc will be an advantage
  • Interest in public sector structure, governance, processes and systems.
  • Experience navigating and operating in a regulated environment
  • Experience working constructively across functions and track record of building and maintaining the trust of all stakeholders
  • Understanding of partnership obligations under the Treaty of Waitangi
