Ko tā mātou mahi - Our Role
The purpose of this position is to support the Procurement function by contributing to the leadership, direction and management of Kainga Ora procurement activity, and implementing key initiatives as directed. This includes leading and delivering nominated significant Value for Money projects, category-based procurement, provision of portfolio-based support, providing liaison and acting on behalf of the Procurement Service as delegated. Proactively contributing to:
- The on-going development and maturity of Kāinga Ora procurement strategy.
- The operation of the procurement team, including its structures, processes and procedures, to achieve recognised good practice procurement, sourcing and commercial vendor management.
- Development and maintenance of the functions of Strategic Procurement, Category Management and Supplier Strategic Relationship Management to meet Kāinga Ora sourcing requirements.
- Development and maintenance of on-going relationships with Kāinga Ora business units to facilitate the delivery of strategic and operational business requirements.
- Kāinga Ora achieving value for money through its sourcing activities.
Ngā pūmanawatanga ōu - What you will bring
To be successful for the Senior Procurement Specialist will bring:
- Relevant tertiary qualification in business management, procurement, law or logistics
- MCIPS or equivalent experience and knowledge of procurement concepts, methodologies and practices
- Solid business background supplemented by strong experience in a centralised procurement environment
- Experience of leading procurement projects of a complex and significant value nature
- Strong self management skills
- Proven strong relationship building skills, ability to develop effective relationships with the full range of business associates and staff
- Proven ability to maintain a strategic focus but enter into detail when required
- Demonstrated superior skills in the areas of communication, listening, influencing and negotiation
- Proven ability to communicate strategy and values through actions and words
- Demonstrated ability to bring together groups of people from diverse backgrounds into a cohesive group
- Demonstrated ability to persuade and influence people and is willing to take the hard decision
- Proven proactive approach to building and maintaining effective relationships with internal and external parties
- Demonstrated professional and focused approach to work
- Demonstrated strong planning and organisational skills
- Proven ability to remain calm and positive under pressure
- Proven strong team building skills
- Demonstrated willingness to take personal responsibility for their decisions and decisions of the management team.
- Well-developed skills with MS Office applications -Word, Excel and Access.
