If this sounds like you then we have a great career development opportunity in Te Puni Kōkiri - Ministry of Māori Development for an Advisor with sound project experience to join our Strategy, Finance and Performance Puni with a focus on Māori Housing.

Te Whiwhinga Mahi | The opportunity

Te Puni Kōkiri, jointly with Te Tūāpapa Kura Kāinga, is responsible for the delivery of Whai Kainga Whai Oranga (WKWO) - the Government's flagship Māori housing programme. Established in 2021, the programme is responsible for increasing Māori housing supply in priority areas, providing additional whare repairs and building Māori housing sector capability. 

Through WKWO Te Puni Kōkiri is supporting individuals, whānau, hapū, iwi and rōpū with funding, information, advice and practical support to achieve their housing aspirations.

The appointment range for this role is $63K - $87K per annum.

Ko wai koe | About you

If you possess the following, then we want to hear from you:

  • Have provided high quality written and verbal advice/recommendations to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Supported the delivery of programmes and projects, including the development of key milestones, timelines, consultation processes, risk analysis and resourcing requirements.
  • Supported projects through providing timely and accurate reporting on the current status of projects and identified risks.
  • Excellent communication and relationship management skills.
  • Experience in working with whānau, hapū, iwi, Māori organisations and Māori communities.
  • Understanding of the government and the public service and public sector processes.
  • Understanding of the relevance of the Treaty of Waitangi to the work being undertaken.
  • A degree of fluency in Te Reo Māori is desirable. Te Reo lessons are available in-house.
