Mō te tūnga | About the role
We are looking for an Enterprise Data and Information Architect to help shape the future of data and information at Ara Poutama Aotearoa. In this senior role, you will drive the delivery of our Digital Platform Plan, and Data and Information modernisation, ensuring our systems, investments, and architecture align with a modern and connected digital environment.
You will provide subject matter expertise and leadership across Digital and the wider Department by setting architecture and technical standards, designing enterprise-level models, and guiding how our solutions evolve. Working closely with Business and Product Owners, you will translate complex concepts into practical advice, build trust, and influence decision making that delivers real value.
A key part of this role is developing strategic roadmaps, assessing emerging technologies, and ensuring our data architecture supports future growth. You will champion best practice, ensure compliance with architectural and regulatory standards, and mentor others to lift capability across the team.

We will be looking for the following skills, knowledge and abilities outlined in your application:
- Extensive experience in enterprise‑level data and information architecture, with the ability to design long‑term roadmaps that align to organisational strategy.
- Strong, complementary capability across business and application architecture, with a well‑developed understanding of core platforms, and the cyber security implications of architectural decisions.
- Proven leadership and influence with senior stakeholders, able to build trust and guide strategic decision making.
- Deep knowledge of modern data and integration practices, including architectural patterns, governance, compliance and emerging technologies such as AI and ML.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across complex environments and lead virtual or multi‑disciplinary teams.
Ngā painga | The benefits
The midpoint of the salary range is $170,814 per annum and the full range (85%-120%) is $145,192 - $204,977 per annum. Appointment and remuneration will reflect skills and experience relevant to the role.
