Infrastructure and Digital Assets (IDA) provides a range of services that support the delivery of Corrections' core business and ensure we can maintain consistent service delivery regardless of external events and crises.

The Digital Solutions team partners with the business to develop, enhance, and support a portfolio of applications that enable staff across Ara Poutama Aotearoa to deliver critical services every day.

We are looking for a motivated Digital Solutions Associate Developer to join our team. This permanent role is ideal for someone early in their development career who enjoys problem-solving, learning new technologies, and working closely with stakeholders to deliver meaningful outcomes.

As an Associate Developer, you'll contribute to the design, development, testing, deployment, and support of business applications built on technologies including Oracle APEX, ServiceNow, Anglar JS, and other enterprise platforms. You'll work alongside experienced developers and analysts, gaining exposure to the full software development lifecycle while helping deliver reliable and user-focused digital solutions.

What you'll do

  • Engage with end users and stakeholders to understand business needs and gather feedback.
  • Design, build, test, and support digital solutions and application enhancements.
  • Assist with analysing and refining requirements within an Agile delivery environment.
  • Develop and maintain solution documentation, user guides, and support materials.
  • Provide day-to-day application support, incident resolution, and troubleshooting.
  • Participate in testing activities to ensure solutions meet quality and business requirements.
  • Deliver training and guidance to users adopting new solutions and capabilities.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across applications, processes, and ways of working.
  • Work collaboratively with experienced developers, product owners, and business stakeholders to deliver value.

Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience

We're looking for someone with a passion for technology and learning who can bring strong problem-solving skills and a customer-focused mindset.

Ideally, you'll have:

  • Knowledge of the software development lifecycle and application support practices.
  • Experience or exposure to developing and supporting technology solutions.
  • Understanding of business requirements gathering and solution design principles.
  • Experience or exposure to technologies such as Oracle APEX, PL/SQL, JavaScript, web services, ServiceNow, Anglar JS, or similar platforms.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate technical information clearly.
  • The ability to work effectively with a range of stakeholders and within a team environment.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • A tertiary qualification in Information Technology or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • A genuine desire to learn, grow, and continuously develop your technical capability.

Utu ā-tau | Salary

The midpoint of the salary range is $72,771 per annum and the full range (85%-120%) is $61,856 - $87,326 per annum. Appointment and remuneration will reflect skills and experience relevant to the role.
