Full-time Permanent Role

At Ara Poutama Aotearoa – Department of Corrections, you'll be part of a purpose-driven organisation delivering recruitment outcomes that support safer communities.

As a Recruitment Advisor, you'll deliver end-to-end recruitment across a diverse portfolio of frontline and specialist roles, partnering closely with Hiring Managers to attract, assess and secure quality talent.

Based at our Penrose office, this role supports Auckland Prison and Auckland Region Women's Corrections Facility (ARWCF). The role involves a regular presence at both correctional facilities and the office, balanced with flexible working options.

Supporting two of our most complex correctional environments, you'll manage high-volume recruitment, build diverse talent pipelines and partner with operational leaders to attract and secure quality talent. While your primary focus will be Auckland Prison and ARWCF, you'll also support broader recruitment priorities across the team as required.

You'll lead assessment centres, facilitate recruitment activities and provide trusted recruitment advice to hiring leaders.

You will be supported by a Candidate Coordinator, allowing you to focus on stakeholder engagement, recruitment delivery and strategic workforce outcomes.

What you'll be doing

  • Deliver end-to-end recruitment across high-volume frontline and specialist roles to meet workforce targets.
  • Partner with Hiring Managers to develop recruitment plans and workforce solutions.
  • Lead and facilitate high-volume assessment centres and selection activities.
  • Build and maintain diverse talent pipelines to support current and future workforce needs.
  • Provide recruitment advice, market insights and candidate recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliant recruitment processes, including police vetting, reference checking and audit requirements.
  • Prepare and contribute to recruitment reporting, providing insights on vacancy status, recruitment activity and pipeline performance.
  • Support attraction initiatives, careers events and community engagement activities across Auckland.
  • Support recruitment activity across other portfolios and vacancy types as required.
  • Contribute to team objectives and continuous improvement initiatives.

You are an experienced recruitment professional with proven experience managing end-to-end recruitment in a high-volume environment, enjoy managing competing priorities and are confident partnering with stakeholders to deliver quality recruitment outcomes.

You bring a customer-focused mindset, strong relationship-building skills and the ability to engage effectively with people from diverse backgrounds and communities.

You're organised, adaptable and comfortable managing large recruitment campaigns while maintaining attention to detail and delivering quality outcomes.

Most importantly, you'll be passionate about helping build a workforce that reflects the communities we serve.

Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience

  • Demonstrated experience delivering end-to-end recruitment in a high-volume environment, including stakeholder engagement, candidate management and assessment activities.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience facilitating assessment centres, interviews and selection processes.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and large application volumes.
  • Experience working with recruitment systems and compliance-focused processes.
  • Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and sound judgement.
  • Confidence engaging with diverse candidates, communities and stakeholders.
  • Understanding of, or willingness to learn about, Te Tiriti o Waitangi, tikanga Māori and te reo Māori.
  • Full New Zealand Driver Licence and ability to travel across Auckland recruitment sites as required.

Ngā painga | The benefits

Midpoint: $89,225 | Range: $75,842 – $107,070

Salary will be based on required skills and experience
