We have an exciting opportunity for a highly organised and analytical Senior Adviser Addiction Contracts to join our Pae Ora team based in Wellington. This permanent role plays a critical part in ensuring contracted addiction services are delivered effectively, meet contractual expectations, and support positive outcomes for people in our care. The role is based at National Office in Wellington, with flexible working arrangements that include the opportunity to work from home up to two days per week.
Working closely with the Manager Addiction Services, you will oversee a portfolio of addiction service contracts, monitor service delivery performance, manage provider relationships, and ensure robust contract administration practices are maintained. You will analyse provider reporting against contracted outcomes, identify emerging trends and risks, and provide timely advice to support informed decision-making.
This is a varied role that combines contract management, financial administration, reporting, stakeholder engagement and coordination responsibilities, making it ideal for someone who enjoys balancing detailed analysis with relationship management and operational delivery.
Key responsibilities include:
- Monitoring provider performance and contractual compliance against agreed service outcomes.
- Reviewing and analysing monthly provider reports and service data to identify trends, risks, gaps, and opportunities for improvement.
- Escalating issues, risks, and emerging patterns to the Manager and Principal Advisers as required.
- Managing contract administration activities, including drafting contracts, variations, and maintaining accurate contract records.
- Coordinating quarterly provider meetings and maintaining effective working relationships with contracted service providers.
- Managing invoice approvals, purchase orders, budget monitoring, and other contract-related financial processes.
- Preparing quarterly and ad hoc reports on contract performance, expenditure, and service delivery outcomes.
- Supporting administrative functions for the Addiction Services team and wider Mental Health and Addictions Senior Leadership Team.
- Contributing to procurement and commissioning activities where required.

To be successful in this role, you will be a skilled contract management professional with strong analytical capability and a keen eye for detail. You will have experience interpreting complex information, identifying risks and trends, and translating data into meaningful insights and recommendations.
You'll also bring:
- Experience managing or administering contracts within a government, health, social services, or related environment.
- Strong financial administration skills, including invoice management, purchase orders, budgeting, and reporting.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, supported by strong numerical skills.
- The ability to build and maintain productive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, including external service providers.
- Experience preparing high-quality reports and presenting information clearly to senior stakeholders.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- An understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and a commitment to improving outcomes for Māori.
- A collaborative approach and willingness to contribute across the wider team.

The salary range is $104,985 - $148,214. Appointment and remuneration will reflect skills and experience relevant to the role.
