Senior Advisor Contracts, Performance & Funding - Hauora Māori Service at Te Whatu Ora, All Locations

About the Role

The Senior Advisor Contracts plays a key role in leading and supporting the Hauora Funding work programme within Hauora Māori Services. The position focuses on ensuring best-practice contractual arrangements, compliance, and consistency across Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora. It also provides expert advice and guidance to strengthen funding processes and support organisational accountability.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide expert contracting advice and support to the Group Manager Hauora Funding
  • Ensure best-practice contractual arrangements and compliance across Hauora Māori Services
  • Collaborate with Performance & Funding teams to drive consistency and improvement
  • Develop and implement standardised guidelines for funding and contract data management
  • Promote accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement across funding processes

About the Team/Service

As the Hauora Māori Service of Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora (Health NZ) our core role is to ensure New Zealanders have better and more timely access to health care.  The devolution of resources and decision making to the regions ensures those closest to service users and whānau are involved in decisions on how healthcare is delivered. About you

You are an experienced contracts and funding professional with strong expertise in contract management systems, stakeholder engagement, and delivering projects and change initiatives in complex environments. You bring a solid understanding of government processes, legislation, and funding frameworks, alongside a commitment to equity, Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and continuous improvement.

You will have:

  • Minimum 5–6 years' experience in contract management, funding, or a related field
  • Strong experience with contract and financial systems (e.g. CMS, ALM, FPIM) and delivering projects or change initiatives
  • Proven ability to build and manage stakeholder relationships across government, agencies, and project teams
  • Sound understanding of government processes, legislation, and strategic environments, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work autonomously, adapt to change, and champion equity and Te Tiriti outcomes
