Project Coordinator - Major Projects - Protection - NPHS (Fixed Term) at Te Whatu Ora, All Locations

About the Role

The Major Projects Project Coordinator supports the Notifiable Disease Management System (NDMS) project. The role sits within the Protection Directorate of the National Public Health Service (NPHS).


We are seeking a skilled and experienced Project Coordinator to join our team. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in lending your coordination experience to an inflight technology project that significantly impacts public health outcomes across New Zealand. You will be engaging with the project across its lifecycle, helping to coordinate activities including planning, implementation, and tracking deliverables from various business partners. This role has a lot of opportunities for growth and development of various skillsets including project planning, management, change and communications.

Our ideal candidate will have the following:

  • A background in coordination for business/technology projects
  • An understanding of hybrid agile/waterfall environments
  • The ability to draft communications for diverse audiences
  • A good understanding of project risk management
  • Exceptional engagement and stakeholder coordination skills
  • A strong ability to navigate administrative processes
  • A good eye for design and the ability to polish presentations
  • Experience recording, collating and distributing advisory and steering group minutes

About the Team/Service/ Location

The NPHS within Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora, work towards Pae Ora (healthy futures) for all by engaging with the wider determinants that impact people's health, focusing on oranga/wellbeing, prevention, protection, and population-level intervention. We are connected across boundaries to deliver public health services that are nationally planned, regionally delivered and locally tailored.

About you

You will be an adaptive, pragmatic and action focused individual. You will bring personal expertise and the networks of experts that fill in the gaps. You will demonstrate a keenness to learn about the technology world and its application to the public health business. You will bring a deep commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles, ensuring equitable outcomes and culturally responsive practices in all areas of your work.

  • A relevant graduate and post-graduate qualification.
  • Experience in implementing Te Tiriti o Waitangi in action.
  • Minimum 2-3 year in project coordination and administration roles
