Clinical Chief Advisor- Intelligence - NPHS at Te Whatu Ora, All Locations

About the Role

We have the opportunity available to join the National Public Health Service (NPHS) Intelligence Directorate as a Clinical Chief Advisor. This is a permanent, full-time role.

The Clinical Chief Advisor Intelligence has a critical role in ensuring population and public health intelligence is informative and interpretable, to inform decision-making for districts, regions, and agencies. They will provide guidance to the Clinical Director, Director of Intelligence, senior leadership team, and members of the Intelligence directorate in the development and delivery of data, insights, and intelligence products.

About the Team/Service/ Location

The NPHS within Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora, work towards Pae Ora (healthy futures) for all by engaging with the wider determinants that impact people's health, focusing on oranga/wellbeing, prevention, protection, and population-level intervention. We are connected across boundaries to deliver public health services that are nationally planned, regionally delivered and locally tailored.

As a member of the Intelligence directorate of the National Public Health Service, this position has shared accountability for the analytic and intelligence products for workstreams within NPHS. The Intelligence Directorate is a population and public health operational Intelligence team that is nationally and regionally networked, and collaborative across organisations and agencies.

About you

The successful candidate is an experienced leader with extensive knowledge of NZ public health care. You will be an expert at providing senior clinical or technical advice and will be able to support and have oversight across the team. You will bring previous experience and expertise in leadership and proven experience in contributing to the delivery of key work programmes and projects.   • Extensive clinical experience and relevant sub-specialty expertise such as public health (medicine, nursing or other clinical practitioner), infectious disease, general practice with special interest in public health analytics, epidemiology, or informatics, with appropriate tertiary level professional qualification.
  • For a clinical banding, hold a current Annual Practising Certificate as a health practitioner.
  • Significant experience in analysis and presentation of health data
  • Significant experience in using data and intelligence products to improve health outcomes, reduce inequities and improve the health of communities
  • Proven ability to write and talk about complex issues clearly and concisely
  • Proven ability to tailor complex messages to a range of audiences including clinical, government, executive/senior managers and the public
