Deputy CFO, Funded Sector and Procurement at Te Whatu Ora, All Locations

About the Role 

The Deputy CFO Funded Sector and Procurement is responsible for ensuring purchasing decisions and contracting arrangements are optimal to support the delivery of health services, deliver value for money and facilitate continuity of supply of the goods and services Health New Zealand requires.

The primary purpose of this role is to ensure that all purchasing decisions and contracting arrangements under the responsibility of Funded Sector and the Procurement organisations are efficient and effective, deliver best possible value for money and enable Health New Zealand to deliver health services to the performance required to meet the Government's Health Targets.

About you 

You are a qualified Chartered Accountant or hold a relevant business degree, , and bring a strong track record of financial leadership at a senior level. With a minimum of 10 years' experience in commercial environments, you demonstrate well-developed financial acumen and sound business judgement.

You have proven experience partnering with senior line managers to drive superior organisational performance, providing clear, insightful advice grounded in robust financial analysis. Your strong analytical skillset enables you to support business cases, identify and address emerging operating issues, and guide effective resource prioritisation.

You are experienced in establishing and leading large, dispersed professional teams, and are comfortable navigating complexity while constructively leading people through change. You also bring a proven ability to develop and present high-quality financial information to Senior Management and Boards, communicating complex concepts with clarity and confidence.
