Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is the country's largest employer, delivering universal public healthcare to 5 million New Zealanders.
We provide essential hospital, specialist, and community health services across 80+ locations - from large urban centres to rural towns and remote communities.
Our goal is to improve health outcomes for all New Zealanders by delivering equitable, accessible and innovative care.
About the Role
The AR Collection Officer is responsible for the timely recovery of all monies owed to Health New Zealand and for managing a diverse debtor ledger to keep overdue balances within KPI targets. This includes working with multiple customer groups, resolving issues quickly, and maintaining strong relationships through clear, confident communication and effective collection strategies.
The role also contributes to a culture grounded in equity, Te Tiriti o Waitangi obligations, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Success requires resilience, sound judgement, and a commitment to safe, compliant practice, with clear escalation for matters such as unresolved system issues, privacy concerns, suspected fraud, or issues outside delegated authority.
About you
To be successful in this role, you'll bring at least three years of experience in high‑volume debt collection, along with strong capability using the Oracle FPIM Advanced Collections Module and solid proficiency across MS Office. Recent examples of proactive, positive, and collaborative behaviours that show you can adapt to shifting organisational priorities are essential. Experience in the health sector and the ability to empathise and communicate with a variety of different cultural groups and people in stressful situations will be an advantage.
