  • Work anywhere in New Zealand
  • Fixed term: 18 months

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is the country's largest employer, delivering universal public healthcare to 5 million New Zealanders.

We provide essential hospital, specialist, and community health services across 80+ locations - from large urban centres to rural towns and remote communities.

Our goal is to improve health outcomes for all New Zealanders by delivering equitable, accessible and innovative care.

About the Role

The Test Analyst plays a key role in ensuring the quality, reliability, and effectiveness of digital solutions across Health New Zealand. Working closely with developers, product owners, and delivery teams, you will plan and execute testing activities, identify and manage defects, and ensure solutions meet agreed quality standards and user needs. This role contributes to improved health outcomes by identifying issues early, supporting efficient delivery, and enabling high-quality digital services. With a focus on continuous improvement, innovation, and health and safety, the Test Analyst helps foster an agile, inclusive, and quality-driven delivery environment that supports better outcomes for people, whānau, and communities.

About the Team/Service/ Location

You will be part of a collaborative digital delivery team within Health New Zealand, working across multidisciplinary groups that include developers, product owners, and service partners to deliver high-quality digital health solutions. The team is committed to innovation, continuous improvement, and agile ways of working, while embedding equity, Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles, and Māori and Pacific voices into service design and delivery. Operating in a supportive and inclusive environment, the team values shared learning, strong relationships, and collective responsibility for quality, health and safety, and positive outcomes for people, whānau, and communities across Aotearoa New Zealand.

About you

To succeed in this role, you will be a motivated and quality-focused Test Analyst who brings strong testing experience, a collaborative mindset, and a commitment to continuous improvement. You will be comfortable working in dynamic delivery environments, take personal responsibility for delivering high-quality outcomes, and build positive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders. You will demonstrate an understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and equity principles in practice, act with integrity and professionalism, and show adaptability to changing priorities, including occasional travel or work outside normal hours to support critical deliveries and go-lives.

  • 2–3+ years' experience in software testing, including applying a range of testing methodologies across the SDLC.
  • Proven experience designing and executing test artefacts, such as test plans, test cases, and test scripts for web-based or desktop applications.
  • Strong understanding of defect management, with hands-on experience using tools such as Jira or Bugzilla.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience, with testing certifications (e.g. ISTQB, CSTE) considered an advantage.
  • Well-developed analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in agile team environments.
