Asset Manager at Te Whatu Ora, All Locations

About the Role

As an Asset Manager, you will lead and advance Health Technology Management's (HTM) asset management practices for the national Clinical Equipment portfolio. You will be responsible for achieving and maintaining enhanced compliance and standards while driving strategic alignment, operational excellence, and continuous improvement across the entire asset lifecycle.

You will develop and embed asset management strategies, frameworks, data standards, and reporting methods that directly support national decision‑making and contribute metrics into the Health NZ Annual Report.

This role helps shape how Health New Zealand plans, invests in, manages, and measures its clinical equipment assets- ensuring our health system is safe, resilient, sustainable, and equipped to meet the needs of our communities.

About the Team/Service/ Location

The PSC&HTM (Procurement, Supply Chain and Health Technology Management) team at Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora are a national function with a vast and complex scope. They play a critical role in ensuring the availability, safety, and efficiency of clinical and non-clinical goods and services across the health system. 

About you

You are an experienced asset management professional who brings both strategic insight and practical capability to a complex national environment. You can translate data, risk, investment needs, and long‑term planning into clear, actionable pathways that support both operational performance and strategic direction.

You bring a mindset of innovation and continuous improvement - always seeking better ways of working, new approaches to lifecycle management, and opportunities to lift maturity across systems, tools, and processes.

You understand the critical role clinical equipment plays in delivering safe, high‑quality care, and you're motivated by work that directly contributes to health equity and improved outcomes across Aotearoa.

You will bring:

  • A relevant graduate qualification in engineering, asset management, health technology, or a related field.
  • 5–10 years demonstrated success in strategic asset management within a public sector or health environment.
  • Familiarity with ISO 55000 standards and Cabinet Office Circular CO (23) 9.
  • Strong understanding of data governance, asset lifecycle planning, and risk‑based decision‑making.
  • Experience with asset management information systems and data analytics tools.
  • Professional certification in asset management (e.g., IAM, AM Council).
  • Experience contributing to national or regional asset management frameworks or systems.
