About the Role
As the Payroll Manager – Head Office, you will provide strong leadership and expert advice across all payroll matters, ensuring the delivery of accurate, timely and compliant payroll services within a large, complex organisation.
You will lead a team of experienced payroll professionals, overseeing day-to-day payroll operations while also contributing to national payroll strategy and continuous improvement initiatives. Working closely with the National Payroll Leadership Team and key stakeholders, this role plays a critical part in maintaining payroll integrity, supporting organisational change, and ensuring employees are paid correctly and on time.
This is an opportunity to influence nationally, strengthen payroll capability, and lead improvement in a highly visible function that underpins the workforce delivering healthcare across Aotearoa.
About You
You will bring proven payroll leadership experience within complex environments, along with a commitment to equity and Te Tiriti o Waitangi. You will also demonstrate:
- Extensive payroll experience, including people leadership in large, complex organisations
- Strong knowledge of NZ employment and payroll legislation, including the Holidays Act
- Experience leading payroll operations involving multiple collective agreements
- A data-driven, solutions-focused approach with strong analytical capability
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Experience with AMS payroll systems and large-scale payroll transformation environments will be advantageous.
