About the Role

As a Senior Advisor, Procurement, you will be part of the Central Region Contract Liaison and Procurement team, supporting the procurement of complex regionally led health and social services. You'll work closely with Service Development Managers, regional Planning Funding and Outcomes (PFO) teams, and national procurement colleagues to provide expert advice, lead procurement activities, and strengthen procurement capability across the organisation.

This is a varied and highly collaborative role where no two days are the same. You'll contribute to end-to-end procurement processes, provide strategic and operational advice, support negotiations for complex agreements, and help ensure procurement activities align with government procurement rules and best practice.

About the Team/Service

The Contract Liaison and Procurement team supports the delivery of high-quality, equitable health services through effective procurement and contracting practices across the Central Region. The team works in partnership with commissioning and service development teams to ensure procurement approaches are strategic, transparent, and deliver value for communities.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will bring strong procurement expertise, sound judgement, and the ability to build trusted relationships across a wide range of stakeholders. You'll thrive in a complex environment, enjoy working collaboratively, and be confident providing strategic advice to senior leaders.

You will also have:

• A relevant tertiary qualification
• More than 3–5 years' experience in senior procurement roles
• Proven experience managing complex social services procurement processes, ideally within the health sector
• Strong knowledge of government procurement rules, policies, and best practice
• Experience providing high-quality strategic advice, reports, and recommendations
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging for different audiences
• Strong relationship management skills and the ability to influence at senior levels
• Experience using data and insights to identify risks, opportunities, and trends
• Demonstrated critical thinking and sound decision-making capability
• Experience developing and implementing procurement strategies and work plans
• A commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and experience applying its principles in practice
• A collaborative approach with a commitment to ongoing professional development

Desirable experience includes coaching and mentoring others in procurement approaches and processes, experience managing complex health services procurement, and experience building partnerships with Māori and Pacific stakeholders and organisations.
