About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role supporting the National Public Health Service (NPHS) by providing high-quality governance advisory, secretariat and coordination support to senior leaders and committees. In this role, you'll help ensure decision-making is well-structured, evidence-based and aligned with organisational priorities. You'll coordinate governance activities across leadership meetings and subcommittees, manage agendas and meeting schedules, quality assure papers, and maintain action and decision registers to support effective follow-through and accountability.
You'll also contribute to strengthening governance capability across the organisation by promoting best-practice governance processes, improving systems and templates, and building trusted relationships with stakeholders at all levels. The NPHS within Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora, work towards Pae Ora (healthy futures) for all by engaging with the wider determinants that impact people's health, focusing on oranga/wellbeing, prevention, protection, and population-level interventions. We are connected across boundaries to deliver public health services that are nationally planned, regionally delivered and locally tailored.
About you
As a Governance Advisor, you will bring strong governance coordination experience, exceptional organisation skills and the ability to build trusted relationships across a wide range of stakeholders. You will have:
- Experience managing governance activities, meetings and processes
- Experience preparing and maintaining governance artefacts including agendas, minutes, action and decision registers
- Strong experience coordinating and quality assuring papers for leadership or committee meetings
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging for different audiences
- Strong organisational and time management skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
- The ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Proven relationship management skills and a collaborative, service-focused approach
- Confidence working with senior leaders and supporting Chairs and governance groups
- Strong judgement, initiative and problem-solving capability
- Experience using Microsoft Office products, with SharePoint knowledge an advantage
- A tertiary qualification in a relevant field and/or equivalent experience
