About the Role
The Senior Business Analyst is responsible for leading business analytics activities for Prevention Screening. Primarily this role will work across BreastScreen Aotearoa and Te Puna, the National Breast Screening System.
As a Senior Business Analyst, you'll lead business analysis activities across complex initiatives that support strategic organisational priorities and improve digital capability across the health system. You'll partner closely with business stakeholders, technical teams, product owners and Programme and project delivery teams to understand business needs, analyse processes, identify opportunities for improvement, and ensure solutions deliver maximum value. This role offers a strong mix of strategic thinking and hands-on delivery, with the opportunity to influence equitable outcomes at scale while mentoring and supporting other Business Analysts within the team.
Key responsibilities for this role include
- Lead complex business analysis activities across the BreastScreen Aotearoa programme, projects and products
- Engage with stakeholders to understand business challenges, opportunities and requirements
- Translate business needs into clear, actionable specifications for delivery teams
- Analyse and improve business processes, systems and workflows
- Develop and maintain artefacts including user stories, process maps, use cases and requirements documentation
- Facilitate workshops, meetings and stakeholder discussions to build alignment and consensus
- Support solution design and ensure outcomes align with strategic objectives
- Identify risks, dependencies and opportunities throughout the delivery lifecycle
- Contribute to continuous improvement and consistent business analysis practices across teams

About you
You're an experienced Business Analyst with strong analytical capability, excellent communication skills, and the confidence to work across complex and fast-paced environments. You enjoy collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders, can confidently navigate ambiguity, and are passionate about delivering practical, user-focused solutions for clinicians, other kaimahi and participants.
You will have
- Experience working with integrated platforms (APIs, system-to-system flows) given the register, imaging providers, and national ecosystem
- Strong data capability (SQL in particular) given reporting, performance, and programme insights requirements
- Experience navigating vendor-delivered or custom platforms (like Pinga), including configuration, enhancement, and integration layers
- Understanding of health or other regulated environments, including privacy and data stewardship
- User-centred thinking and accessibility awareness, particularly as consumer-facing components will evolve over time
- Bachelor's degree in business, Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field
- Business Analysis certification such as CBAP or IIBA preferred but not essential
- Experience using business analysis tools and techniques
- At least 5 years' experience in business analysis roles within technology environments
- Proven success delivering complex projects and initiatives
- Strong experience in requirements gathering, analysis and documentation
- Experience facilitating workshops and stakeholder engagement sessions
- Strong understanding of business analysis methodologies, frameworks and tools
- Experience creating artefacts such as process flows, user stories and use cases
- The ability to translate complex business requirements into technical specifications
