About the Role
The Test Analyst is responsible for contributing testing activities for Prevention Screening. Primarily this role will work across BreastScreen Aotearoa and Te Puna, the National Breast Screening System.
As a Test Analyst you will contribute to the planning, design and execution of testing activities across Prevention Screening digital projects and initiatives. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams to develop and execute test cases, identify defects, support automated testing activities, and ensure solutions meet quality standards before release. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys problem-solving, has a keen eye for detail, and is eager to continue building their testing and automation capability within a supportive and collaborative environment.
Key responsibilities for this role include
- Contribute to the development of test plans, strategies and test cases
- Design and execute unit, integration, system and acceptance tests
- Execute manual and automated test scripts and analyse test results
- Identify, log and track defects and work with development teams to resolve issues
- Support the development and maintenance of automated testing frameworks
- Ensure testing activities align with Programme and project requirements and quality standards
- Contribute to continuous improvement of testing processes and practices
- Collaborate effectively with developers, Business Analysts, Product Owners and Prevention Screening Programme and project teams

About you
You're a proactive and curious testing professional who enjoys learning new technologies and contributing to high-quality delivery outcomes. You'll bring strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
You will have
- Experience working with integrated platforms (APIs, system-to-system flows) given the register, imaging providers, and national ecosystem
- Strong data capability (SQL in particular) given reporting, performance, and programme insights requirements
- Experience navigating vendor-delivered or custom platforms (like Pinga), including configuration, enhancement, and integration layers
- Understanding of health or other regulated environments, including privacy and data stewardship
- User-centred thinking and accessibility awareness, particularly as consumer-facing components will evolve over time
- 2–3 years' experience in software testing across a range of testing methodologies
- Experience developing and executing test plans, test cases and test scripts
- Understanding of software development lifecycle principles and testing best practices
- Experience using defect tracking and management tools such as Jira
- Experience testing web-based or desktop applications
- Exposure to test automation practices and tools
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology or a related field preferred
- Relevant certifications such as ISTQB or CSTE are advantageous
- Basic understanding of programming languages
- Knowledge of database systems and SQL
- Understanding of network protocols and security concepts
- Familiarity with automation testing tools and frameworks
