About the Role
We are seeking a Leave Transfer and Buy Out Officer to join our People & Culture function in a nationally focused, remote role.
In this position, you will be responsible for calculating and processing employee leave transfers and leave buy‑out requests in line with organisational policy and legislative requirements. You will manage leave balances transferred between districts, ensure accurate loading of data into payroll systems, and respond to employee and manager queries relating to leave transfers and cash‑ups.
This role requires strong attention to detail, sound payroll or HR knowledge, and a customer‑focused approach, ensuring employees receive accurate, timely and professional support.
About the Team / Service / Location
You will work within the People & Culture team, collaborating closely with Payroll, AskHR, HR Business Partners, district teams and system specialists. Although the role is remote, you will be well supported by a wider national team committed to delivering consistent, high‑quality payroll and leave services across Health New Zealand.
About You
You are a detail‑focused professional with payroll or HR experience who enjoys working with policies, systems and data, while supporting employees and managers with confidence and clarity.
You will bring:
- Experience in payroll or HR (minimum 1 year)
- A sound understanding of payroll‑related legislation, including the Holidays Act 2003
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- A strong customer service mindset and ability to manage queries professionally
Experience with AMS Leader Leave Manager or UKG Workforce Dimensions will be advantageous.
