About the Role

This is a fixed term part-time role. It can be up to two days per week and will finish in September 2027.

As a Data Analyst, you will be part of our Data Services team, helping make health data accessible, trusted and useful. You'll extract, manipulate and analyse data to identify trends, generate evidence and provide insights that support priority areas of work across the health system.

As your role is fixed term and part time, this job will focus on discrete pieces of work and specific projects related to analytics and data sharing.

This is a varied role where you'll combine technical expertise with strong relationship-building skills. You'll develop efficient and reusable code, contribute to improving data systems and processes, and communicate analytical findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.

About the Team and Location

You'll join a collaborative Data Services team working alongside data and analytical teams across Health New Zealand. The team works with a wide range of health datasets and partners across the health and government sectors.

About you

You'll have good knowledge of data and analytics; and technical skills using programming languages such as SQL, R, or Python. You'll be confident extracting, manipulating and analysing data and turning complex information into clear, meaningful insights.

You'll also bring strong communication and stakeholder skills, with the ability to communicate technical concepts in a clear and understandable way. To be effective in this role, you'll need existing knowledge and experience of Health New Zealand's national administrative datasets.
