About the Role

As Senior Advisor – AMP Specialist, you will provide expert advice and support to strengthen asset management planning across Health New Zealand. Reporting to the Group Manager, National Asset Planning, you will help develop, review and improve asset management plans across a large, nationally distributed infrastructure portfolio.

You'll work with national and regional stakeholders to clearly identify asset-related risks, issues and planned responses, helping to establish clear planning structures, content requirements and evidence expectations, while ensuring asset management plans align with organisational objectives, investment priorities and service delivery plans.

This is a practical hands on role that requires a flexible and fit for purpose approach to the work required. Through strong analysis and strategic advice, you will translate organisational priorities into practical planning requirements and present complex information in a way that supports informed executive and governance decision-making.

The role will also contribute to national guidance, frameworks and tools that improve asset planning practice, strengthen assurance and reporting, and support long-term asset performance, risk reduction and investment planning.

About the Team/Service/Location

The Infrastructure and Investment Group(IIG)team are focused on delivering high impact infrastructure investments that support the transformation of New Zealand's health system.

Giving support, oversight and assurance across projects and programmes, the team understand that safe, fit for purpose health facilities, sites and equipment are essential for a well-functioning health system that improves the health of all New Zealanders.

About you

You bring a strong understanding of asset management planning, strategic alignment, risk identification and risk-based decision-making and can work confidently across a complex, multi-stakeholder organisation.

Analytical and commercially minded, you can bring together information from multiple sources, identify the key issues and provide clear, well-reasoned advice to senior decision-makers. You are comfortable working across different regions and teams, know how to build trusted relationships, create alignment and influence positive outcomes.

You'll be highly skilled in written communication, with the ability to distil complex technical, strategic, and operational information into clear, compelling plain-English narratives that support informed decision-making and stakeholder understanding.

This role requires someone who is hands-on, pragmatic, and action-oriented. You'll be proactive in identifying issues and opportunities, self-motivated in driving work forward, and confident managing priorities independently. We value people who roll up their sleeves and focus on delivering results.

What you'll bring

• A relevant qualification in business administration, asset management, planning, infrastructure or a related discipline.
• A minimum of 5 + years' experience in an analytical or advisory role within asset planning, asset managment or a related field.
• Significant experience in asset management planning, asset management advisory or a closely related analytical role.
• Demonstrated experience supporting the development, review and ongoing improvement of asset management plans.
• A strong understanding of strategic alignment, risk identification and risk-based planning.
• Experience developing and implementing strategies or solutions aligned with organisational objectives.
• Strong project management capability and the ability to progress key work across multiple stakeholders.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly.
• Proven relationship management and influencing skills, including the ability to work across multiple regions and stakeholder groups without direct authority.
• Familiarity with asset management frameworks, industry trends and recognised good practice.
