About the Opportunity
Oral Health Therapists work in community and school-based dental services throughout New Zealand.
You may work in:
- Mobile and fixed dental clinics
- School and community oral health services
- Outreach and equity-focused programmes
- Health education and promotion roles
You may also have opportunities to:
- Rotate across different services and communities
- Develop leadership skills and take on additional responsibilities
- Contribute to health promotion initiatives
- Build expertise in adolescent and community oral health
Salary, Leave and Benefits
Base salary: NZD $79,014 – $119,300 per annum (based on the PSA Allied, Public Health, Scientific & Technical Collective Agreement)
Additional compensation: Penal rates, overtime, higher duties and other applicable allowances
You'll also receive:
- Reimbursement of professional registration and Annual Practising Certificate (APC) fees
- Paid Continuing Professional Development (CPD) leave and support for ongoing learning
- Professional indemnity cover provided by Health New Zealand
- At least four weeks of annual leave, with additional leave provisions in some services and locations
- Ten days of paid sick leave per year
- Twelve public holidays, plus time in lieu or an alternative holiday where applicable
- Parental leave provisions and support in line with the collective agreement and New Zealand legislation
- Long service and other special leave entitlements
- Employer superannuation contribution where eligible
What You Need to Work Here
To work as an Oral Health Therapist in New Zealand, you'll need:
- To be eligible for registration with the Dental Council of New Zealand
- Hold a current Annual Practising Certificate (APC)
- Meet the relevant professional, clinical and fitness-to-practise requirements
International applicants are assessed on their qualifications, clinical competencies and fitness to practise.
