Prison industries provide people in our care valuable work experience and skills, as well as meaningful engagement. They are an important part of working towards reintegration and can increase chances of obtaining successful employment on release. Industries are also critical in providing essential services, such as Distribution, Stores, catering and Grounds, for the operation of the prison.
At Auckland Region Women's Corrections Facility we aspire to better support wāhine in a way that incorporates the aspirations of the wāhine we manage, their whānau and staff. We see prison industries in playing an integral role for a wahine to reclaim her mana and restore herself to her rightful place in her whānau and society. By doing this, we can help break the cycle of reoffending and improve the wellbeing and safety of wāhine, their whānau, and our wider communities, as well as contribute to intergenerational transformation.
We are looking for someone with strong leadership and relationship skills who is able to embrace and facilitate change and create an inclusive environment delivering positive outcomes for staff and wāhine in line with the department's Women's Strategy - Wahine - E rere ana ki te pae hou and Hōkai Rangi Strategy.
Experience, skills, and knowledge in Logistics and Distribution especially regarding SAP Logistics and or similar platforms is advantageous. Your key areas of focus would be to assist the Planning for the relevant regions distribution requirements to provide strong and visible leadership to the team; and to establish a culture of continuous learning and development for both staff and wāhine. You will also be responsible for maintaining strong customer relationships with commercial partners.

- Strong leadership skills and experience managing teams.
- Excellent relationship skills, including commercial relationships.
- Highly developed administration and budget management skills.
- Relevant industry experience in primary industries is an advantage.
- Experience in an adult learning or training environment.
- The ability to think critically, be innovative, embrace and drive change.
- An understanding of our Women's Strategy - Wahine - E rere ana ki te pae hou and Hōkai Rangi Strategy and how this is applied.
- Current and clean full drivers Licence
Our Industries operate 7 days a week. The hours of work for this role will be Monday to Friday between 6am – 2pm.With the possibility of some overtime or call-outs may be required.
Instructors have the same classification as Corrections Officers and, as such, complete the same initial training courses. This will involve on-site training as well as residential training at our National Learning Centre in Upper Hutt, Wellington, to focus on the custodial elements of the position.
The later stages of the recruitment process involve pre-employment checks including a drug test, medical test, fitness test and police vetting. Please note – this Criminal History Check is exempt from the Clean Slate Act. Please ensure you declare all offences (even those outside of 7 years) in your application.
Utu ā-tau | Salary
The starting salary for this role is $89,790 per annum and the full range is $89,790 - $99,589. Appointment and remuneration will reflect skills and experience relevant to the role.
