Te āhua o Te Tūrunga - The nature of the position

As a Public Relations Specialist, reporting to the Director Marketing & Brand, you will play a pivotal role in telling New Zealand's international education story to the world. You will bring real stories to life through global media, social platforms and meaningful partnerships, championing the voices of students, alumni, and industry to showcase the impact of a New Zealand education.

Working closely with international media, social platforms, global PR agencies, and sector partners, you will deliver compelling, consistent storytelling that builds awareness, drives engagement, and supports demand. Your work will strengthen global visibility and reputation, reflected in strong earned media coverage and a clear voice in key international markets.

Ngā tino Pūkenga/Wheako - Essential skills/experiences for the role

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Proven experience in creating engaging, audience focused content that builds community, advocacy, and reach 
  • Proven experience to build and leverage relationships with international media, industry partners, influencers and stakeholders to amplify stories and extend reach.  
  • Demonstrated expertise in identifying, creating and activating compelling stories that earn attention, shape perception and support organisational objectives.  
  • 5+ years' experience in government and commercial organisations in communications, public relations, media, marketing or reputation management roles across government, commercial or international environments.  
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in communications, marketing, journalism, public relations or related discipline. 

The remuneration band for this role is $120K - $140K
