About the Role

Working as a Rheumatology Advanced Trainee

Rheumatologists are specialist physicians with particular expertise in the diagnosis and holistic management of diseases that affect joints, muscles, and bones. Rheumatologists are committed to the expansion of knowledge within their field. As such they are often actively engaged in research across a wide breadth of investigational opportunities. Medicine Registrar Runs

Medicine Registrar runs in the Auckland region are six months in length, following which you may rotate into a different run. Example run descriptions for the 2025 training year can be viewed on the Auckland Doctors website.

About you

 

Advanced Training in Rheumatology (this includes Advanced Trainees in Rheumatology outside the Auckland Region)

  • You will need to have passed the FRACP written exam or be registered to sit the clinical exam for 2025.
  • These positions will only be offered to those who have passed the clinical exam and completed basic training. For those completing the exam later this year and should you not pass the exam, you will no longer be eligible for advanced training position and you may be considered for a run allocation.
  • Eligible for registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand. Support and assistance with this process is provided.

 

Six month allocations for those interested in Rheumatology experience as part of their training in General Medicine or specialty training

  • Must be at least an Advanced Trainee with the RACP.
  • Eligible for registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand. Support and assistance with this process is provided.

 

If you are a current Rheumatology Advanced Trainee plus a current employee in the Auckland region, you do not need to apply via this job listing. You will have independent meetings with your specialty.

Important: Even if you are a current RMO employee in the Auckland region seeking a six month allocation or applying for advanced training in Rheumatology, you will need to formally apply.
