We are looking for a talented individual to join our Credit Investigations and Compliance Team as an Investigator. This is a fixed-term opportunity until October 2025, based in our Tāmaki Makaurau (Auckland) office.
He kōrero mōu | About you
Sitting within the Credit Branch, the Credit Investigations and Compliance Team carries out a critical function for the Commission under the Credit Contracts and Consumer Finance Act, educating, engaging with and investigating lenders to ensure that borrowers are protected when borrowing money and lenders abide by the rules. You will engage with and investigate a diverse group of lenders (from high-cost lenders to mobile traders to banks)– and work closely with our legal team to make a real difference for everyday New Zealanders. The work is variable, interesting, and rewards an inquisitive mind.
This is an exciting opportunity for a candidate with investigation, legal, regulatory, compliance or banking experience, or with similar skills or experience to join our high performing team.
Key aspects of this role include:
- gathering, researching, and analysing complex information;
- applying credit law to real world situations;
- engaging with lenders and other stakeholders;
- working in/leading team of investigators and lawyers;
- interviewing witnesses and traders;
- educating lenders about compliance with the credit legislation;
- using a range of the Commission's enforcement tools to achieve compliance and ensure borrowers are protected;
- presenting evidence and information verbally and in writing to decision-makers;
- working with internal and external stakeholders, including managers, Commissioners, and the business community; and
- working simultaneously across multiple projects.

We are looking for individuals who are self-motivated and possess:
- a demonstrated interest in, and good grasp of investigations, compliance and/or regulatory frameworks;
- strong analytical skills;
- the ability to quickly understand and synthesize complex information;
- strong organisational and time management skills, and the ability to project manage effectively;
- strong communication skills; and
- the ability to work individually and in a team.
A degree in a relevant discipline (such as law, finance or accounting) would be an advantage.
The indicative salary range for this role is $88,870 - $104,553 plus 3% KiwiSaver employer contribution. The successful candidate will be appointed at a salary which reflects their individual skills, experience, and internal relativities across the organisation.
