Whānau Support Worker - Northern Region - NPHS at Te Whatu Ora, Auckland

About the Role

We have a permanent, full-time opportunity available to join our Northern regional team as a Whānau Support Worker

The primary purpose of this role is to support the role of Kidz First Public Health Nurses who deliver health care services to families / Whānau, schools and the wider community in the Counties Manukau area. In this role you will help the Kidz First Public Health team in delivering School Based Immunisations and undertake home visits as requested by the public health nurse and within Counties Manukau

About you

You will be open minded, quality driven, and can work both independently while being a valued member of a supportive, friendly team demonstrating advanced communication skills with the ability and passion to work with a diverse range of children and their families/whānau. You are someone with good time management skills, personal resilience and the ability to flexible adapt to changing work priorities.

  • Experience in implementing Te Tiriti o Waitangi in action
  • Knowledge of the community health environment
  • Computer literacy to intermediate level with the ability to manage data entry accurately
  • Demonstrate a strong drive to deliver and take personal responsibility
  • Able to establish and maintain positive working relationships with people at all levels within the public and private sectors, related industry and community interest groups and the wider national and international communities
  • Good time management skills and personal resilience
  • New Zealand Drivers' Licence
  • Willingness to travel across the region
  • An eye for detail and commitment for continuous quality improvement
  • Demonstrate the highest standards of personal, and professional behaviour
  • With the support of Health NZ, you will proactively take care of your own health and safety, to ensure a safe and supportive work environment
