Portfolio Lead - Northern - Pacific Health at Te Whatu Ora, Auckland

About the Role

The primary purpose of the role is to manage commissioning contract portfolios with business and financial acumen.

  • Manage the relevant contract portfolio
  • Implementation of a national Pacific health commissioning framework
  • Support the Pacific health budget for commissioning by building strong and sound financial management systems and reporting mechanisms
  • Identify critical issues for Pacific provider contracts from lifting district boundaries and supporting Te Pae Tata outcomes
  • Build high-trust relationships and ensure effective engagement with the sector, Pacific communities, and wider providers
  • Working closely with the portfolio and contract administration teams
  • Develop, implement, and maintain business plans and reporting for Providers and the Pacific Directorate
  • Use data and insights to make evidence-based decisions and to respond effectively to the needs of internal and external stakeholders
  • Analyse incoming information and work with the wider Pacific Directorate teams to identify emerging issues and risks, initiating corrective action where appropriate and escalating issues where required.

This role is located in the Northern Region and requires the successful candidate to be living in that region to support the requirements of the role. 

About the Team/Service/ Location

This role sits within the Pacific Health Planning and Funding team at Health New Zealand, based in the Northern Region. The team is dedicated to improving health outcomes for Pacific communities through strategic planning, effective funding allocation, and strong partnerships with providers and stakeholders. As part of this collaborative and impact-driven team, you will contribute to initiatives that support equitable access to healthcare and culturally responsive services. Reporting to the Planning and Funding Lead - Northern, you will play a key role in shaping Pacific health strategies and ensuring that resources are directed where they are needed most.   • A relevant tertiary or professional qualification or relevant experience
  • Can demonstrate knowledge and experience in managing contract portfolios and building sound financial management and reporting mechanisms
  • Can demonstrate previous successful partnership with Pacific Peoples Communities
  • Experience working in complex teams in an organisation, either regionally or nationally
  • Successful experience creating a team culture in which people proactively try new approaches, learn and develop and find ways to continuously improve in their area of expertise
  • Experience in building and sustaining effective working relationships
