Regional FSP Programme Reporting & Development Lead at Te Whatu Ora, Auckland

About the Role 

The Regional Financial Sustainability Programme Reporting & Development Lead leads and coordinates the Financial Sustainability Programme (FSP) across the Northern Region, supporting the delivery of Pae Ora (Healthy Futures) by ensuring initiatives across hospital and specialist services are well governed, data-informed, and effectively delivered. The role has a strong focus on driving consistency, transparency and assurance across regional and district FSP programmes, while identifying opportunities to maximise value and improve financial sustainability.

This role provides governance, oversight and high-quality performance, programme and financial reporting to support timely executive decision-making. Acting as a key conduit between regional, district and national programmes, the position works closely with Procurement, Supply Chain, data and enabling teams, and supports engagement with national providers delivering clear insight into progress, risks, interdependencies and the achievement of financial sustainability targets.

About the Team

This role is part of the Regional Finance team within the Northern Region, working closely with regional and district senior leadership teams, Hospital and Specialist Services, and national teams to deliver coordinated and sustainable financial outcomes.

About you 

You are a strategic, systems-focused leader with extensive experience delivering complex programmes in matrixed organisations. You bring strong analytical capability, credibility with senior stakeholders, and a collaborative approach that supports continuous improvement and equity-focused outcomes.

To be successful in this role you will bring:

  • Detailed knowledge of the key strategic challenges facing the public health sector, particularly in delivering equitable health outcomes across the New Zealand Health and Disability system.
  • A minimum of three years' senior management experience within a health organisation, with demonstrated responsibility for:
  • Programme and project delivery
  • Financial management and budgeting
  • Staff leadership and performance management
  • Highly developed analytical and conceptual thinking skills, with the ability to provide high-quality information and advice to senior executives to support strategic decision-making.
  • Proven ability to prepare clear, concise and in-depth critical analyses, briefings and recommendations that the District Leaders and Executive teams can use to drive effective business decisions.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative and show strong leadership within the health sector, including influencing across complex, matrixed environments.
  • Having a professional Health Qualification is desirable but not essential
