Specialty Clinical Nurses - Pacific Health - Manukau at Te Whatu Ora, Auckland

About the Role

The Specialty Clinical Nurse (SCN) Pacific Health is a designated senior role. In this role, you will be responsible for improving health outcomes and patient experience for Pacific patients admitted to the hospital.  As a senior nurse, this role also has a responsibility for improving the quality of professional nursing practice and safeguarding high standards of care in Counties Manukau District by supporting an environment in which excellence in clinical care can flourish.

The SCN Pacific Health will respond to referrals from inpatient services, as well as promote access to Pacific community support services.  You will work with Pacific patients to provide assessment, nursing care, clinical interventions and education in a specific area of specialty practice that may include, but is not limited to:

  • The delivery of specific clinical interventions or procedures;
  • The delivery of nursing care as specified by a clinical/ care pathway, protocols or guidelines.

About the Team/Service/Location

The Pacific Health Service provides support to Pacific people admitted to the hospital and acts as a cultural resource for the hospital's inpatient services.  This multi-disciplinary service provides support and advocacy to Pacific patients and their families from admission to discharge.

About you

As a Specialty Clinical Nurse Pacific Health, you will work collaboratively across the sector and organisational boundaries to influence the nursing contribution to achieve better outcomes for Pacific peoples.  To succeed in this role, you will have:

  • A current RN Practising Certificate with the Nursing Council of New Zealand
  • Minimum five years of relevant clinical experience and expertise post-registration.
  • Working knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its application to practice.
  • Commitment to achieving equitable outcomes for Pacific peoples
  • PG Certificate completed and working towards/completed a PG Diploma
  • Experience working with Pacific peoples in a hospital setting
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Fluent in a Pacific island language
  • Proficient level PDRP minimum.
  • Advanced patient assessment skills.
