Regional Workforce & Recruitment Planner, Northern Region at Te Whatu Ora, Auckland

Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this role

  • Permanent, full time
  • Work anywhere in the Northern Region

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is the country's largest employer, delivering universal public healthcare to 5 million New Zealanders.

We provide essential hospital, specialist, and community health services across 80+ locations - from large urban centres to rural towns and remote communities.

Our goal is to improve health outcomes for all New Zealanders by delivering equitable, accessible and innovative care.

The Northern Region

Northern employs over 35,000 highly skilled clinical and non-clinical professionals. As the largest region in Health New Zealand comprising four districts: Te Tai Tokerau | Northland, Waitemata, Te Toka Tumai | Auckland, and Counties Manukau it provides and funds health services for a population of approximately two million people or 40% of the NZ population.

What makes the region, and the work you will be involved in, interesting is its diversity. It includes NZ's largest city as well as a significant rural population and is the most ethnically diverse region.  Some areas report among the highest life expectancy in the country, while others face persistent socioeconomic and health challenges. These include high rate of potentially preventable conditions, unmet health needs, and stark differences in service access.

About the Role

Reporting to the Regional P&C Officer this role is responsible for supporting the relevant region to identify short/medium term workforce capacity requirements and gaps, working with recruitment and attraction to source the required resources to meet regional/local needs.

The role will work with clinical leaders, GDOs, operational leads, reporting analysts and HRBPs to identify and prioritise their regions key talent/resourcing priorities and gaps. The four Regional Workforce & Recruitment Planners will work as a team, with their Regional P&C Officers to confirm priorities across the organisation and then collaborate with the national Recruitment and Attraction team.

About you

You bring over eight years of experience across People & Culture functions, including recruitment, sourcing, HR business partnering, and workforce planning, within large and complex organisations. You have developed advanced expertise in workforce planning and recruitment methodologies, along with a strong understanding of talent management frameworks required to operate effectively at scale.

You are highly skilled in analysing data, translating insights into clear, practical recommendations that support informed decision-making. Your ability to partner with senior leaders enables you to coordinate and successfully deliver workforce and recruitment plans in complex environments.

Known for your strong interpersonal and relationship management skills, you build credibility quickly and influence stakeholders with confidence, ensuring alignment and successful outcomes.
