About the Role
As a Health Analytics Manager for Waitemata district, you will be responsible for leading a team of analysts that deliver valuable, high-impact data and insights for the district and region.
We are searching for someone who can focus on:
- Leading and growing the team to provide quality analysis and insights, turning our data into a meaningful story for our key district and regional decision-makers. Advocating for equitable health outcomes by use of analytics.
- Strengthen our analytical assets, driving the use of scalable, reusable outputs, embracing new technology and opportunities. Ensuring appropriate data governance is in place
On a typical day, you will coordinate data and analytics requests, support stakeholders in interpreting insights, mentor analysts, manage data quality and privacy risks, and ensure appropriate access to trusted health information.

About the Team/Service
Waitemata is a secondary provider of clinical services and runs a complex data environment. The team has built strong relationships with key clinical managers and clinician stakeholders. Your focus is on the district but participating in regional and national analytical work. You will be part of Health NZ's national health analytics directorate, collaborating with peers across the motu. Based in North Shore, Auckland, this role also offers flexible hybrid working arrangements, allowing you to balance collaboration with autonomy.
About you
As a Health Analytics Manager, you are a highly skilled and experienced analytics leader who combines technical expertise with strategic insight and exceptional communication skills. You are confident working with senior stakeholders, including government agencies and organisational leaders, and have a proven ability to guide teams, influence strategy, and implement innovative solutions. You thrive on working in a complex environment, navigating evolving and ambiguous requirements.
You bring a blend of technical and management skills, including:
- Proven experience for a minimum of 5 years leading an analytics team
- Extensive experience and understanding of the health sector
- Advanced expertise in data analytics using tools such as SQL, Python, PowerBI, Qlik, and Excel.
- Strong stakeholder management and collaboration skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical insights clearly to non-technical audiences.
- Leadership, mentoring, and coaching experience, fostering high-performing and capable teams.
- Strategic, solution-focused thinking with the ability to balance long-term objectives and urgent priorities.
- Commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles, equity, and culturally safe practices in analytics and reporting.
- Highly organised, adaptable, and resilient, able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Innovative and proactive, driving continuous improvement in data processes, tools, and organisational insights.
