Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this role

  • Permanent, full-time position based at North Shore Hospital.
  • Transform financial and operational data into insights that help shape healthcare delivery across one of New Zealand's largest health districts.
  • Join a high-performing Finance, Analytics and Insights team where your expertise will influence decision-making, drive performance, and support better health outcomes for our communities.

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is the country's largest employer, delivering universal public healthcare to 5 million New Zealanders.

We provide essential hospital, specialist, and community health services across 80+ locations - from large urban centres to rural towns and remote communities.

Our goal is to improve health outcomes for all New Zealanders by delivering equitable, accessible and innovative care.

About the Role

In this key role, you will provide high-quality financial analysis, reporting, and advisory support to operational and clinical services across Health New Zealand. Partnering closely with Finance Business Partners, Operations Managers, and senior leaders, you will turn complex financial and operational data into meaningful insights that support effective decision-making and improve organisational performance.

You will support budgeting, forecasting, business planning, and performance reporting, while helping to identify financial risks, opportunities, and trends across a complex healthcare environment. As part of your responsibilities, you will contribute to month-end processes, including financial reporting, variance analysis, balance sheet monitoring, and ensuring financial information is accurate, complete, and delivered within agreed timeframes.

This role requires a strong combination of technical and financial expertise, analytical capability, and relationship management skills. You will work collaboratively with finance teams, clinical leaders, and operational managers to enhance reporting, develop business intelligence solutions, improve financial processes, and build financial capability across the organisation.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced finance professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, solving complex problems, and making a meaningful contribution to the delivery of high-quality healthcare services for our communities.

About you

As an experienced finance professional, you'll bring strong analytical capability, commercial acumen, and a passion for using data to influence outcomes.

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in accounting, finance, commerce, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of five years' experience in management accounting, financial analysis, or finance business partnering roles.
  • Working towards a Chartered Accountant (CA) qualification or an equivalent professional accounting qualification.
  • Strong financial modelling, reporting, and analytical skills, with the ability to turn complex data into meaningful insights and recommendations.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships and influence decision-making across a complex organisation.
