Mō tēnei tūrangi mahi | About this role 

The ambitious Carbon Neutral Government Programme was launched in late 2020 to ensure government leads by example in transitioning to a low emissions future.  We are working towards achieving carbon neutrality for many public sector organisations from 2025. This initiative is co-led by the Ministry for the Environment, the Ministry for Business, Innovation and Employment and the Energy Efficiency & Conservation Agency. 

Increased funding and focus on this Programme means we are looking for two Senior Analysts to support this fast-paced, exciting programme of work. 

For one Senior Analyst, we need practical experience of greenhouse gas measurement and reporting to support agencies to meet Programme requirements.  For the other Senior Analyst, we need someone with experience in carbon offsetting initiatives to support our policy work.

As a Senior Analyst, you will provide thought leadership, project coordination and technical leadership, and will have the opportunity to mentor other team members to build capability.

Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience 

Our ideal candidate will bring:  

  • experience with greenhouse gas emissions measurement and reporting and/or carbon offsetting initiatives or the voluntary carbon market
  • experience delivering complex sustainability work or advice on emerging issues or supporting the implementation of strategic change
  • proven experience delivering quality work in a fast-paced environment
  • strong relationship management and engagement skills, quickly building credibility and trust with diverse stakeholder groups
  • excellent interpersonal skills, presentation, collaboration and influencing skills
  • a desire to influence and think creatively to achieve results
  • commitment to developing your cultural capability and capacity in Te Ao Māori.

Most importantly you will be passionate about looking for realistic and effective ways of achieving environmental outcomes.  

Salary Range

Salary range for this role is $101,802 to $124,424 pa.  Appointment within this range will be based on skills and experience.
