Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this role
We are keen to hear from Registrars looking for new opportunities commencing January 2022 through to January 2023 as Paediatric Registrars. The Paediatric Registrar positions are accredited for Basic training by the Royal Australasian College of Physicians.
The Paediatric Department offers eight Paediatric Registrar positions. These are suitable for Paediatric Basic Trainees with at least six months of Paediatric experience. Previous Neonatal experience is desirable but not essential. The role is also suitable for advanced trainees in specialties needing Paediatric experience, such as Emergency Medicine or Anaesthesia. The Role can also be credited for Advanced Training in General Paediatrics, but not for the rural component.
The Paediatric Department is a busy supportive department of 14 SMO's and 2 Fellows on the consultant roster, and provides an excellent opportunity to gain first-hand experience in managing a wide range of acute Paediatric presentations. We have a 22 bed General Paediatric ward, a 4 bed day stay unit, and a 12 bed level 2 SCBU. Registrars are rostered in supervised outpatient clinics, and are on an 8 person roster that includes day shifts, evenings, long days and nights with a 1:8 frequency.
4 SHO positions are also available for those with no prior Paediatric experience. Registrars help provide supervision to SHO's along with the consultant Paediatric staff.
All positions are based at Tauranga Hospital and the run period is for 6 or 12 months.
