The Bay of Plenty District Health Board is spread across a vast geographical area and centred across two hospitals based in Tauranga and Whakatāne.  We serve a population of approximately 238,380 for the major population centres of Tauranga, Katikati, Te Puke, Whakatāne, Kawerau and Ōpōtiki.  The BOPDHB is one of the Bay of Plenty's largest employers with over 4000 staff.

Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the Role

We are seeking an Enrolled Nurse to join our 10 bed in-patient unit within the Mental Health Services for Older People team at Tauranga Hospital.  We are a busy unit providing acute assessment and treatment for clients presenting with acute mental health conditions, dementia with behavioural and psychological conditions and palliative dementia care.

This is an excellent unit to develop a broad range of skills and experience for career progression.  You will be supported and encouraged to develop your skills and continue learning.  This is a mixed ward, with an average patient stay of 21 days so you will be able to learn about a variety of complex medical issues along with different treatments available. 

We are a friendly team which has a high focus on the DHB CARE Values and service development to meet the needs of our client group. This will provide you with a range of opportunities for job satisfaction.  This is a permanent, full-time position. 

Mōu - About You

The preferred candidate would be passionate and committed to providing patient focused care. The ability to work as an effective team member and demonstrate strong communication is essential to this position. You will need to have a calm and empathic approach, flexibility and creativity in your care approach.  A full driver's license is required.

It is desirable that the applicant has experience working with mental health, older people, dementia and associated co-morbidity health conditions.
