The BOPDHB is one of the Bay of Plenty's largest employers with over 4000 staff.

Do you want to join a dynamic, Innovative team in the emergency department at Whakatane hospital? If you have the enthusiasm for providing emergency nursing care in a well supported environment then this could be the place for you!
You will join a small, highly skilled, and supportive team who manage the unique variety of emergency situations presenting at our small provincial hospital. This is an exciting environment in which to develop excellence in emergency nursing assessment and planning skills, with support of the emergency department staff. Our nursing team consists of nurse practitioners, clinical nurse specialists, an emergency department educator and clinical coaches. In addition to the nursing support we work closely alongside a team of senior and junior medical staff.
A key focus for the Bay of Plenty District Health Board is to build a sustainable workforce at Whakatāne Hospital whilst achieving equity in health outcomes for our Eastern Bay community.

Our preferred candidate will have:
- Emergency Department and/or acute care nursing experience
- A current NZ nursing registration, current practising certificate or working towards through a Competency Assessment Programme (CAP)
- A commitment to the DHB values which are integral to ED practice.
- A desire to make a difference to our community
- A ‘can do' attitude
- A commitment to ongoing education to support excellence in emergency nursing
