He Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the Role
Do you want to work in a dynamic and challenging environment with a team of highly skilled staff? Do you want to develop your emergency nursing skills and be supported to engage in education specific to this area of practice? If so, you need to join our team at the Emergency Department, Tauranga Hospital.
We are currently seeking permanent part-time and full-time Registered Nurses to join the team in our busy department where we provide 24-hour emergency care to both the adult and paediatric population in the Bay of Plenty. You will be supported by our team which includes a Clinical Nurse Manager, Nurse practitioners, Clinical Nurse Specialists and experienced registered nurses.
We also employ new graduate nurses each year. Additional support is provided by our health care assistants, clerical and medical staff.

We would prefer you to have previous experience in acute care however we do offer a comprehensive orientation program. This is a busy and unpredictable working environment so a calm demeanor, a good sense of humour and being a team player is essential in the role.
In return we provide a generous orientation programme tailored to the needs of the successful applicant. Further orientation days are provided prior to you moving to the more acute care areas as required. There are also many in-house educational opportunities such as ALS, PALs, NLS.
Our preferred candidate will have:
- Emergency Department and/or acute care nursing experience
- A current NZ nursing registration, current practising certificate or working towards through a Competency Assessment Programme (CAP)
- A commitment to the DHB values which are integral to ED practice.

- A ‘can do' attitude
- A commitment to ongoing education to support excellence in emergency nursing
