About the Role

Support Net Kupenga Hao Ite Ora have an opportunity for an experienced, community-focused individual to join us as a Disability Support Services Coordinator working in a full-time (1.0 FTE – 40 hours per week) permanent role. This role could be based in Rotorua, Tauranga or Whakatāne and may include travelling across all three rohe, supporting disabled people/Tangata Whaikaha and their whānau to live self-determined, meaningful lives. 

As a Disability Support Services Coordinator, you will meet with disabled people/Tangata Whaikaha and their families/whanau/representatives to explore what a “good life” looks like for them and to allocate supports to minimise disabling barriers they may experience. About the Team/Service/ Location

This role is based in the Bay of Plenty, within a service committed to inclusive, person-centre practice. You will work as part of a collaborative team grounded in the values of inclusion, manaakitanga, partnership and community connection – backed by a deep understanding of the needs, strengths and opportunities within our region. 

About you

We are seeking an individual who is empathic and confident in communicating with a strong commitment to inclusion, equity and rights-based practice.  You understand the barriers disabled people face and support self-determination and dignity through every interaction. 

  • Experience working with or alongside disabled people and their whānau
  • Relevant experience in the disability sector, social services or community development
  • Whilst a relevant tertiary qualification is desirable, experience in the sector is also valued
  • Strong knowledge of local communities, services and networks
  • Ability to lead guided conversations and allocate funding appropriately
  • Excellent time management, computer, literacy and numeracy skills – experience with Word, Excel, One Note and Teams would be preferred
  • It will be advantageous, but not essential, if you have some understanding of how the MSD Disability Support Services system works and, in particular, eligibility criteria
  • People who whakapapa to this rohe and those with lived experience of disability are particularly encouraged to apply, even if you feel you may not meet all of the above criteria.
