About the Role

As a Senior House Officer (SHO) in the Emergency Department (ED) at Whakatāne Hospital, you will be working in a high-paced environment that provides medical services to a rural population. With ~24,000 attendances per year, 25% of which are paediatrics, you will gain exposure to a broad range of emergency medical conditions, helping to develop and refine your clinical skills.

Our Emergency Department at Whakatāne Hospital is a well-established and dynamic team that serves a diverse population, providing essential emergency services to the rural community. You will be part of a strong team of medical professionals who collaborate closely to deliver excellent patient care.

About you

As a Senior House Officer (SHO), you will be passionate about emergency medicine and working in a rural hospital setting. You will bring a strong work ethic, adaptability, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, multicultural environment. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, along with a commitment to learning and team collaboration, will be key to your success in this role. You will be keen to contribute to a team that values both professional development and the well-being of its members.
