Manager People and Operations - Te Manawa Taki - NPHS at Te Whatu Ora, Bay of Plenty

About the Role

We have a permanent, full-time opportunity available to join our Te Manawa Taki regional team as a Manager, People and Operations. This is a key management and leadership role in the regional Te Manawa Taki service.

The primary purpose of the role is to provide leadership and effective day-to-day operational management for the Regional Operational and Medical team to deliver strategic, policy and operational priorities to enable the realisation of Pae Ora. You will also lead the development and implementation of the operational plans, frameworks and protocols to support the NPHS regional strategic direction and service delivery. This role is expected to hold a CIMS lead role in outbreaks and other responses when required.   

Travel throughout the Te Manawa Taki region may be required.

About you

You are experienced in matrix and multidisciplinary working models and have proven supervision, mentoring, coaching and teaching skills. You're experienced in applying critical thinking, using sound judgment to develop options. You have machinery of government experience and are able to identify business / project requirements, develop or contribute to strategies and plans, and prioritise the work of a team.

Skills and Experience

  • Bachelors level qualification in a relevant field or equivalent experience
  • A post-graduate degree in a relevant field is desirable
  • 3+ years' demonstrated operational management experience
  • Proven experience in financial management
  • Experience in leading change, innovation and service and quality improvement initiatives 
  • Full New Zealand Drivers' Licence
  • Willingness to travel as required
  • Experience in applying critical thinking, using sound judgment to develop options and the machinery of government 
  • Able to demonstrate mature communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to write and present effectively, and to develop, unify and maintain strong internal and external relationships essential for achieving sustainable outcomes
