Te Whatu Ora - Health New Zealand, Hauora a Toi Bay of Plenty is spread across a vast geographical area and centred across two hospitals based in Tauranga and Whakatāne.  We serve a population of approximately 308,000 for the major population centres of Tauranga, Katikati, Te Puke, Whakatāne, Kawerau and Ōpōtiki.  Te Whatu Ora Hauora a Toi Bay of Plenty is one of the Bay of Plenty's largest employers with over 4000 staff.

He Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the Role

An opportunity exists to join the Clinical Support Services team at Te Whatu Ora, Health New Zealand Hauora a Toi Bay of Plenty as the Patient Information Centre and Telecommunications Service Team Leader based at Tauranga Hospital.

This leadership position reports to and provides support to the Clinical Support Services Coordinator to ensure optimisation of the Patient Information Centre and Telecommunication Service teams; to support and facilitate communications and coordination on the day-to-day operational duties within these services.

This is a varied role; you will require excellent communication and coordination skills as well as a commitment to professional excellence along with flexibility to meet service demand.  This is a permanent, full-time position however we do have flexibility in the FTE and are open to applications from candidates looking for 0.8 – 1.0 FTE (32 – 40 hours per week).

To be suitable for this role it is important you have the following skills and attributes:

  • Demonstrated leadership qualities, including well developed interpersonal skills
  • Organised and strong attention to detail
  • Motivated, self-driven and solutions focused
  • Strong focus on outstanding customer service
  • Human resources management
  • Overseeing the day-to-day operations in both Tauranga and Whakatane teams
  • Education and mentoring support within the administration teams
  • Providing administration support to the Clinical Support Services Coordinator

Proven experience as a people leader is required, experience in a health setting is desirable.

A key focus of this role will be to ensure a culture of Manaakitanga, and a pro-equity approach is at the forefront when engaging with our people.
